Scott S. Smith and Zach Thomas of Monarch Studio recognized as distinguished professional photographers by the Southeast Museum of Photography (SMP) in Daytona Beach.

Business partners Scott S. Smith and Zach Thomas have much in common: both are Alumns from the renowned Southeast Center for Photographic Studies, as well as, of Flagler College. They are both successful professional photographers in the local community and have been selected to showcase work in the ALUMNI FOCUS Commercial Success in Florida photography exhibit at The Southeast Museum of Photography (SMP).

The Alumni Focus exhibition series is a biennial event at the Southeast Museum of Photography in which the Museum presents new work by distinguished alumni of the Southeast Center for Photographic Studies – a consortium with Daytona State College and the University of Central Florida. Since the program’s inception 50 years ago, graduates have taken their place among the nation’s leading photographers.

This exhibition is a celebration of the accomplishments of 17 photographers that studied at the Southeast Center for Photographic Studies between 1979 and 2009 and focuses on alumni that have made Central Florida their home— pursuing, excelling and succeeding in a myriad of commercial photography specializations, from architectural, portrait and wedding photography to fashion, travel and lifestyle.

"It is a huge honor to be included in this exhibit because the museum and the photography program in Daytona have an impressive international reputation,” says Smith.

The Southeast Museum of Photography (SMP) is Florida's most comprehensive museum of photography and the largest in the southeast. The museum opened in 1992 and is one of 13 facilities in the US dedicated exclusively to photography. It hosts significant exhibitions of world-class photojournalism, fashion and advertising images, contemporary photographic art, with thematic exhibitions by most major photographic artists.

The ALUMNI FOCUS Commercial Success in Florida exhibit will be on display until September 20, 2015 at The Southeast Museum of Photography. The Museum is on the main campus at Daytona State College: 1200 International Speedway Blvd, Building 1200. Three miles east of I-95. Admission is free. Visitor parking is available.
